Tomorrow I leave to hike some Pacific Crest Trail [014]

After a long day preparing to go hiking, it was about 6pm today when I realized I needed a “bear canister” – an animal resistant food jar – in order to even enter Sequoia National Park and get on the Pacific Crest Trail.

But I got the darn thing, and tomorrow I will take a bus to Bakersfield and hopefully hitch my way to somewhere near where the PCT leaves the Mojave Desert and enters the comparitively cozy Sequioa forest.

This should be mildly interesting, as I’ll be solo camping for the first time and hopefully dodging mountain lions which apparently are growing increasingly aggressive towards human food as the California drought continues.

I promise updates as often as possible. Typed on my phone, like this post, so they’ll be heavy on photos. Enjoy! 👍
